Soil Safe Gives Scholarships to 2019 Winners at Carteret High School
By Anisha Cherian
For its fifth year in awarding scholarships, Soil Safe received many applications from Carteret High School students eager to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics.
There were a number of qualified applicants with highly-decorated submissions, making it a challenging decision. It was ultimately decided that Jasreet Kaur and Nasir Kemp would be the recipients of the 2019 award.
The $500 award not only rewards graduating students with a concentration in STEM, but those who have a demonstrated financial need and stellar academic achievement.
Both winners aim to pursue careers in mechanical engineering and were heavily involved in school activities and community functions. Jasreet plans to attend Rutgers University; Nasir is heading to the New York Institute of Technology.
Congratulations to both winners!
